X-Wing: Lets Get Ready To Ramble About Wave 4 So Far

Hello people, I just wanted to take a bit of time while I have a minute to get some thoughts down about how Wave 4 has gone for me.

As I am sure you have seen from the last couple of Battle Reports that I have been hammering my Twin Defender list recently but I have also messed around with some other builds trying to just have some fun games rather than try to discover the new cheese…

So what have I seen in the last two weeks?

Phantoms are just as popular as I expected, it just adds something so new to the game that people are rushing to get to grips with it.

While I do think that they are very very good and I am seeing Whisper being used just as much as Echo, which I am glad about as I did think that Whisper was the way to go in a solo Phantom list.

I have seen them used really well and I have seen them thrown away, I do think that they are well balanced from my experiences so far as even when cooked they will go down if you give the enemy too many chances to shoot them.

The Advanced Clocking device is as good as auto include and in my opinion is just a tax on your Modification slot.  Other than that, the Recon Specialist has been popular as well with people wanting the extra focus for defence.

The Z-95 has also been popular, I have yet to see a full on 8 Headhunter swarm but Blount has featured a bit especially with his Ion Missile.  I have not seen an Assault Missile Swarm yet either as I think the 5 point Missile just pushes it out of reach and think you will maybe see 3 Assault missiles at most in a list.

I have played a couple of games with my Fun (but Terrible) Clone Wars list featuring 2 Z-95’s and 2 Y-Wings and while it is fun to fly I don’t think it is going to set the world alight, but the 2nd Iteration may see a battle report at the weekend depending on how many games I can get in.

The Defender I have seen a few times now with but I am the only person in my area currently running a Twin Defender list (as far as I am aware anyway, am sure that will change as it’s really fun to fly)  Vessery seems to be the most used Defender, with some Shuttle Target Lock shenanigans to get the most out of his ability.

Defender Swarm
Rexler Brath (51)
TIE Defender (37), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Push the Limit (3), Engine Upgrade (4)
Colonel Vessery (47)
TIE Defender (35), Heavy Laser Cannon (7), Veteran Instincts (1), Engine Upgrade (4)

Now on to the poor E-Wing.  From the 1 Game I have played against it you can throw it away if you are carless and it’s high points cost means that it needs to be used with care.  I do think it is better than I though during my preview but I think it will benefit from a little more time for people to get used to its dial and the build options.

I will be sticking to the Cheap (relatively) Blackmoon Pilot in my builds at least until Rebel Aces hits the shelves and I can Spam Cheap A-Wings with Etahn, which I think could be fun.

I do have some builds planned that I have been play testing but I will be keeping them to my self for just a little longer as I want to make sure that they work the way they should but stay tuned and I will have some more Battle Reports on the way!
